The narrator is the first person narrator and he’s omniscient. The setting is the pharmacy. The most important characters are the druggist and Mr Sangstrom. The druggist was a gnome like, gnarled little mean who could have been any age from fifty to a hundred. He was very clever and mysterious. For example he said Mr Sangstrom that the poison was freely and after ha wanted a lot of money for the antidote. During the story he used the irony. It’s the difference between what it said and what it meant. The druggist has helped many murderers not to commit their crimes. Mr Sangstrom didn’t understand the irony. The word used ambiguously in the story was ‘deserve’ because the druggist said Mr Sangstrom that he deserved the poison. Mr Sangstrom fales in understand what the druggist really meant. Infect the druggist won the game. The action last for an hour. This is a crime story because we know the murder from the beginning. The climax and the turning point are when the druggist said Mr Sangstrom that he had already put the poison in his coffee. In this story the events are in chronological and lineal order.
